St. George and the Dragon

The stained glass window was donated by Mary Stevens in memory of George Stevens and restored in memory the Fira and Kowalczyk Families.

St. George was a saint from the 4th Century.   All that is really known about St. George is that he was martyred in Palestine in 303 AD, and that he was a Roman soldier.   There is a famous legend that St. George killed a dragon in Libya and rescued a maiden who was being sacrificed to the dragon.

St. George is the patron saint of soldiers and Boy Scouts and the patron saint of England.
